Baptism

The sacrament of Baptism is found in Old Testament types. It was prophesied about by the Old Testament prophets. John the Baptist, who was the last of the Old Testament prophets himself, established a baptism which was a type of Christian baptism.

The Lord Jesus was baptized by John, and He established Christian baptism by commanding His apostles to go into all the world and make disciples of every nation baptizing them in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The apostle Paul compares baptism with Old Testament circumcision, and he ties it in with Christ’s crucifixion. The Lord Jesus ties baptism in with the new birth and the apostle Peter tells us that the baptism now saves us.

There is so much to get into with this cherished sacrament.
